Nyia Sissac is a photographer based in Chicago,IL, working with portraiture of photography to document and tell a new definition of Blackness.

Nyia Sissac has developed extensive knowledge in color and uses it as a tool to create unique photographs. Each photoshoot that Nyia works on, is planned out with full details and concepts to tell a story. She also has the ability to make any subject in front of the camera comfortable, as she engages with them as if they are her long lost friend.

Nyia has worked various magazines including The New Yorker, The Washington Post, and Belt Magazine. She is currently looking to work with other magazines and art directors to create more portraits for public and knowledge use.

When Nyia isn’t shooting she enjoys going for long walks in the park, relief printing, and silkscreening. This year, Nyia has also started shooting film and continues to bring her 35mm on personal shoots.
